Carpathian Forest est un groupe de black metal norvégien formé en 1992.
Depuis la sortie du légendaire Bloodlust & Perversion en 1992 et le promo de 1993, Journey Through The Cold Moors of Svarttjern, Carpathian Forest est demeuré un groupe culte parmi les amateurs de black metal norvégien, tout comme leurs voisins, Darkthrone.
Carpathian Forest est le père fondateur du Misanthropic Black metal.
Cependant, leur prestation en concert disponible en DVD "We're going to Hollywood for this" tourne leur style en dérision tant le jeu de scène, de lumières et les clichés surfaits sont loin de l'atmosphère froide et sombre dégagée par leurs albums.
